Customs guidance

Import rules are the part of international shipping that catches people off guard, and every destination has its own: Mexico, Canada, and each country overseas. We deal with them every day, and we make sure your shipment meets every requirement before it leaves our hands.

What we help with

  • Declarations and paperwork: we prepare the customs declaration for your shipment and tell you exactly which documents we need from you, usually just the purchase receipt.
  • Classification: different merchandise is treated differently at every border; we classify your goods correctly so there are no surprises in transit.
  • Restricted items: before you buy, we confirm whether an item can enter the destination country, needs a permit, or is better left out of the shipment.
  • Duties and taxes: we tell you up front when a shipment will generate import duties, so the total cost is clear before anything crosses.
  • Commercial imports: for businesses moving inventory, we help structure recurring shipments so each crossing is consistent and predictable.

Common questions we solve

Can this cross? How should it be declared? Why was a similar package stopped last time? Do I need an invoice for a used item? What happens if the value is above the duty-free threshold? These are everyday questions for us; a two-minute message before you buy can save your shipment days at the border.

Good to know

Customs guidance is included with every QMS shipment. It's also available as a standalone consultation if you're planning a purchase or a recurring import and want to understand the requirements first.

How it works

  1. Tell us what you want to cross, ideally before you buy it.
  2. We review the requirements: documentation, permits, and any duties that apply.
  3. You ship with confidence, knowing the paperwork is squared away before the crossing.
